The shape of greatness

These records use the complete supplied history and ranking files, regardless of which drivers are currently plotted. This page does not invoke or alter a rating model.

How the publishable records are defined

Current driver indexThe post-event ELO rank among drivers who participated in that Grand Prix. It is recalculated at every event.

Career curve areaThe race-by-race integral of ELO above or below that event's field median. Multi-season retirement gaps are cut, not bridged. Drivers need 25 events.

Lowest-rating recordsCareer and final ELO come from the supplied ranking. The single-race low is the minimum point visible in the full history for drivers with at least five starts.

Best carThe highest season-average expected-car-win value in the selected release for a model with at least four events. It measures model expectation, not championship points.

Sustained greatnessThe signed area of driver ELO above or below each event’s field median. Drivers need 25 events and retirement gaps are not bridged.

Sustained dominanceThe sum of a car model’s expected-win probability across entered events, expressed as xW points. Ambiguous historical models remain season-scoped.

No. 1 chronologyAt each Grand Prix, the highest post-race retrospective ELO among participating drivers is the leader. Adjacent events led by the same driver form one reign.

The line of succession

Every uninterrupted spell leading the post-race retrospective ELO. Drivers return whenever they reclaim the top position.
